Comm lockdown

Posted by bombsquadwannabe on Monday, 5 March 2007

Over the period of the last few days we have had a communication lockdown. The phones and internet even the stuff we pay for has been locked so we couldn’t use it. Reason being; a convoy out of here was hit with an IED and killed one and severly injured another, so until their families could be notified we were all on lockdown. The good news is comm is up again and I have tonight off, so I can call.

I went ahead and bought my xbox 360, I bought it new from the BX here. I have a few things I could use to go along with it though. I want more games, the selection here isn’t very good. Basically there are seven different sports games and thats about it. I tried to go through Amazon.com but of course they don’t want to ship games to APO adresses. Particular ones I want are; Gears of War, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas, others that I thing I would probably enjoy but don’t really have to have are ; F.E.A.R., Crackdown, Call Of Duty 3. I also want an additional wireless controller for it. Now I know my brithday is coming up so I was thinking you could help me out, I don’t mind getting used games so long as they are in good condition, if you go through amazon.com you can get some good deals and look at the sellers ratings on used stuff. If you order anyof these items you’ll probably have to have it shipped to yourself then send it on to me. Well thats all I have for now, I will try calling Monday day yourtime if anyone wants to answer the phone this time.

New Gun

Posted by bombsquadwannabe on Friday, 2 March 2007

OK, I think I am going to buy a new gun when I get back, What kind should I get? I know I want a new handgun something a little smaller than my Sig 226, I like the Sig 229 SAS. I also want another rifle something I can just blast tons of cheap ammo through, like an AK-47. My friends both already have AK’s and I don’t want the samthing they have though, it just wouldn’t be as fun. This is your opportunity to spend my money on gun stuff, so tell me your thoughts and ideas and help me pick out a new gun.

Still want a 360

Posted by bombsquadwannabe on Wednesday, 28 February 2007

I am still consdiering the Xbox 360, They have some in stock at the BX here and I wouldn’t have to pay for shipping that way, however they don’t have any games I want here over here so I would have to still wait to play it. Also in order to play original xbox games you must have the emulator downloaded you can do that from an online connection, but I can’t do it over here. I would have to have some one do it for me and send it burn them to a disc for me. I think Gears of War seems to put up a really good fight for me wanting one, and I have never even played it. I don’t know if I should get one and only play it when I have the time on my days off, or if I should wait til I get back to the states, when I have a little more time off…

Ok I had to evacuate because we had a simulated attack, after sitting in a bunker for about 2 minutes, I had to grab my gear and go report in, then we all just waited around for about 2 hours, this is my sleep time. I kinda like my sleep and don’t like to be deprived of it.

Anyway back to the 360, if I wait til I am back in the states I will have more time off, and the price may have gone down a little. Also there should be more games available, by then. I don’t know, I still want yalls opinions.

Snakes on a Plane

Posted by bombsquadwannabe on Monday, 26 February 2007

I watched Snakes on a Plane yesterday. I had that it sounded pretty lame but heard a reveiw and some one gave it good ratings. So I thought hey what have I got to lose, other than some time, not much. Anyway I thought the story needed a little more work, but overall wasn’t to bad. The thing that I think needed to have more put into it was the snakes, several of them didn’t even look real, and the way they move was rediculous. Also the way they were handle, towards the beginning Sam is blowing their heads off with what appearred to be a .45 handgun (I will have to double check that part of the movie) also people are reaching out and grabbing the snakes barehanded before the snake can strike. I did get a few laughs from the movie though, and I don’t guess it was probably made to be taken that seriously.

Xbox 360

Posted by bombsquadwannabe on Monday, 19 February 2007

So I have been thinking about getting an xbox for quite sometime, I then started thinking that all the new high tech games coming out aren’t going to be made for xbox very much longer. Now I am thinking that I should get an xbox 360 instead. They are expensive granted, however the cost for me to upgrade my computer to the requirement to play the same games is going to be double that atleast. I think it will stay current in the game technology market far longer than my computer would,  after being upgraded, anyway. I am trying to get a deal with a guy on ebay to for the xbox 360 silver edition or what it is called with the hardrive, 4 games I would auctually play, a wireless controller, W/L headset and shipping for $350. Let me know yalls thoughts.

Dances With Wolves

Posted by bombsquadwannabe on Saturday, 12 August 2006

I have over the course of the last four days been watching the Kevin Costner film Dances With Wolves. I remember having seen parts of it when I was younger, but I couldn’t watch a four hour movie with out getting bored. I didn’t really even remember what the movie was entirely about. The reason I watched it now is very simple, Kane said lets watch this. I said ok. He bought it from the BX over here, it is the extended version with four hours of movie and alot of special features. I enjoyed the film alot more now, than when I was younger, that is to be expected of course though. It kind of makes you wonder what other good movies your missing out on. I am sure there are plenty of them, including ones that will be recommended to me and I will still never watch. Others though I might get around to watching sooner or later.

Long Guns

Posted by bombsquadwannabe on Thursday, 10 August 2006

I am going to eventually need to get a rifle, I already have a shotgun, and will be getting my handgun soon. A rifle is needed for hunting certain animals, some of wich I may get a chance to. Also I just love shooting guns, so why not have a rifle. Of course there are plenty of other reasons I can think of to own a rifle too.I haven’t done a lot of research and don’t plan on getting one this year, howeer I think it might be nice to have a .308 Bushmaster Varminter style gun(go here for more info http://www.gunblast.com/Bushmaster_Varminter.htm.) It would be useful for prarrie dogs, deer, elk, big cats, and for precision target shoting at the range. I am not even sure if bushmaster makes any variants in a .308, however there are plenty of companies that make the parts to build your own. I might do that as a project some time, but for now I am more focused on my pistol.

Pool

Posted by bombsquadwannabe on Wednesday, 9 August 2006

I play pool against Kane pretty often, he has improved considerably, I have improved a little. I used to win a game once in a while now he just runs the table on me. He is getting to where he can make jump shots(the que ball jumps over another ball and still goes where he wants it to) now. I am not complaining or anything I just didn’t know what else to write about. There was a point where he would deserve to win the game, but he always scratched on the eight-ball, and so I would win by default it happened a lot. I can’t remember the last time he has lost a game to me now though. Oh well, lets go see if I can lose again.

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy-Quotes

Posted by bombsquadwannabe on Thursday, 3 August 2006

I saw this movie on TV the other night. I’d seen it before, but it is funnier after you watch it a second or third time with friends who also have nothing better to do than laugh at stupid stuff. Any way here are some of my favorite quotes.(got them from www.imdb.com)

Veronica Corningstone: This is pathetic.
Ron Burgundy: You’re pathetic.

Ron Burgundy: Great Odin’s raven.

Brick Tamland: [riding a bear] Hey, Ron. I’m riding a furry tractor.

Ron Burgundy: Look, it’s the most glorious rainbow ever.
Veronica Corningstone: Do me on it.
Ron Burgundy: It’s so damn hot… milk was a bad choice.

Ron Burgundy: [to Veronica Corningstone as the news has just gone off the air] You’re a real hooker. I’m gonna slap you in public.

Ron Burgundy: [to Veronica Corningstone] I’m gonna shoot you with a BB gun when you’re not looking. Yep, back of the head.
Brian Fantana: Ron, I know it sounds harsh, but God does not want her to live.
Ron Burgundy: Boy, that escalated quickly… I mean, that really got out of hand fast.
Champ Kind: It jumped up a notch.
Ron Burgundy: It did, didn’t it?
Brick Tamland: Yeah, I stabbed a man in the heart.
Ron Burgundy: I saw that. Brick killed a guy. Did you throw a trident?
Brick Tamland: Yeah, there were horses, and a man on fire, and I killed a guy with a trident.
Ron Burgundy: Brick, I’ve been meaning to talk to you about that. You should find yourself a safehouse or a relative close by. Lay low for a while, because you’re probably wanted for murder.

Veronica Corningstone: Take me to Pleasure Town.
Ron Burgundy: Oh, we’re going there.
Ron Burgundy: Why don’t you go back to your home on Whore Island?
Brian Fantana: Panda Watch. The mood is tense; I have been on some serious, serious reports but nothing quite like this. I uh… Ching… King is inside right now. I tried to get an interview with him, but they said no, you can’t do that he’s a live bear, he will literally rip your face off.
[to the Panda]
Brian Fantana: Hey, you’re making me look stupid. Get out of here, Panda Jerk.

Ron Burgundy: I don’t know how to put this but I’m kind of a big deal.

Ron Burgundy: VERONICA CORNINGSTONE AND I HAD SEX AND WE ARE IN LOVE!
[Brian shuts office door]
Ron Burgundy: Did I say that too loud?
Brian Fantana: Yeah, you sort of just yelled it.

Bartender: You know, times are changing. Ladies can do stuff now and you’re going to learn how to deal with it.
Ron Burgundy: What? Were you saying something? Look, I don’t speak Spanish.

Ron Burgundy: Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means a whale’s vagina.
Ron Burgundy: [after jumping into the grizzly bear pit at the San Diego Zoo] I immediately regret this decision.

Benchwarmers

Posted by bombsquadwannabe on Friday, 21 July 2006

I watched this movie earlier this evening and it received laughs from everyone in the theater. I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the funny stuff, pretty much the whole thing. After the movie ended I decided to write about it in my blog and check out some reviews, I was surprised to see what some people had said about it, check out http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/benchwarmers/ to see some of it. It seems as though not many people actually enjoyed the film. I guess if I had payed money and had something better to do, than maybe I wouldn’t I have thought it was as good, but I dind’t pay anything and I am in the desert without anything better to do, so it was time well spent in my book.
